The intersection between suicide and traumatic experiences remains under-explored in the field of suicide prevention. Utilizing a trauma-informed framework for suicide prevention, Ms. Davis will explore the myriad impacts of trauma and pathways to healing (coping and mindfulness skills.) She will also discuss the importance of caring relationships and learning from the stories and lived experience perspectives of young people.

Cathy Davis
Cathy Davis taught ecology, biology, and health sciences (anatomy and physiology) for over eighteen years; for seven of those years Cathy taught school success to at-risk students. She is a small business owner and a graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program. Cathy has training in eating disorders, grief counseling, trauma-informed care and is certified with the American Association for Suicidology as a school suicide prevention specialist. She is a trainer for Youth Mental Health First Aid, Safe Talk, QPR and PREPaRE. She is the current Suicide Prevention Specialist at the Utah State Board of Education.
