This Breakout session will give an overview of the “How to Avoid a Jerk” curriculum, the Health Education Core Standards it covers, and how to schedule a time for a Family Life Educator to come present it to your Health Class.

Jasmine Junk


Jasmine Junk is a Family Life Educator for Utah State University Extension Services and Healthy Relationships Utah. She spends most of her time teaching a healthy dating curriculum called “How to Avoid Falling for a Jerk” in high schools and the community. Jasmine graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Family, Consumer, and Human Development and has found her passion in working with and helping others. Previous to becoming a Family Life Educator, she spent time volunteering for multiple non-profit organizations, worked with troubled youth at a local treatment center, and taught elementary school. Jasmine is an outdoor enthusiast and loves spending her free time in the mountains.
