Say NO to the Eye Test: Use Technology to Evaluate Your Student

“Come on John, you need to run faster and work harder.” Does this sound familiar? What if John was putting forth maximum effort? We evaluate students based on what we SEE. Say no to the eye test and evaluate using appropriate and unbiased procedures. Technology, such as heart rate monitors, can measure our students in a fair and impartial way. Ryan Zimmerman



Ryan Zimmerman is an Assistant Professor in Physical Education and Sport Coaching in the Department of Health Promotion and Human Performance at Weber State University. Dr. Zim earned his PhD from Springfield College, MA with an emphasis in teaching and administration in physical education. Dr. Zim has served on the Leadership Council as a member at large for SHAPE America Eastern District and as the social media coordinator for the Eastern District. His research interests include physical education teaching strategies, increasing motivation in physical activity using technology and coaching strategies to decrease stress and burnout.
