Join Shape America’s 2016 Southern District Health Teacher of the Year and Health Education Content Specialist for Goodheart-Willcox, Mary McCarley, as she shares skills-based health education assessments and activities, which can be easily implemented into the classroom. Teachers will leave with 10 or more new skills-based activities and assessments for their teacher toolbox. In addition, teachers will receive health posters for their classroom and free one year digital access to G-W health education curriculum and Online Instructor Resources.

Mary McCarley


Mary McCarley is the National Content Specialist for Health Education with Goodheart-Willcox and co-author of their middle school health education textbook. She is a former health and physical education teacher in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Mary has 15 years of teaching experience and excels at creating an engaging student-centered environment with a focus on real world learning based on personal interest and self-exploration. Mary graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with an Exercise and Sports Science degree and East Carolina University with a Master of Arts in Education in Health Education. She is a National Board Certified Teacher in Health Education. In addition, Mary is the 2015 North Carolina High School Teacher of the Year for Health Education and the 2016 High School Southern District Teacher of the Year for the Advancement of Health Education.
