Building a Trauma Sensitive Classroom to Foster Resiliency

Breakout Description: 

The course will provide a framework for school personnel working together to understand trauma and the negative impact trauma has on students’ brain development, physical health, emotional, and cognitive capabilities. Educators will discover the benefits of mindfulness strategies to reduce student stress and behavioral problems and raise resilience.

Corby Eason



Corby currently works at the Utah State Board of Education as a Student Support and Prevention Specialist. He is a former high school and middle school counselor, and also worked as a residential treatment specialist. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University and his Masters in School Counseling from University of Phoenix. Corby is a certified Trauma Practitioner Educator and a Certified Signs of Suicide Trainer.
